Sprout Social alternatives for mid-size marketing teams
· Guides
Seven Sprout Social alternatives for a mid-size team, with prices checked 26 October 2026 in USD and AED, who each one suits, and where Sprout is still the better choice.
The best Sprout Social alternatives for a mid-size team are Hootsuite for the closest match, Agorapulse for a team built around the inbox, Sendible for agencies and multi-client teams, Planable and Loomly for teams that live in approvals, Buffer for a tight budget, and Wisp for Gulf brands that want one workspace price and a named approver on every post. Which one fits depends on what is pushing you away from Sprout, so this guide starts with the common reasons. Prices were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 26 October 2026.
How this guide was made
By mid-size we mean a marketing team of roughly 5 to 20 people running several brands, markets or channels. For every other tool we read plan names, starting prices in US dollars, trial terms and listed networks from the vendor's own pricing page on 26 October 2026 and wrote our own summary. AED figures use the fixed rate of 3.6725 dirhams to the dollar. Where a page did not print a figure we say so. Prices change often, so check the page before you buy.
Why teams look beyond Sprout Social
Price per seat
Sprout Social lists Essentials at $79 per seat per month on annual billing or $99 billed monthly, then Standard at $199, Professional at $299 and Advanced at $399, with Enterprise on custom pricing (checked 26 October 2026). The page shows one figure for Standard, Professional and Advanced and does not say whether it is the annual or the monthly rate. Eight people on Professional come to $2,392 a month, or AED 8,784.62, before add-ons, and the bill grows with every person you add.
Profile caps push the whole team up a tier
Sprout's Essentials and Standard plans include 5 social profiles, and unlimited profiles start at Professional. A team with several brands crosses 5 profiles quickly. Because Sprout charges per seat, moving up a tier raises the price for every seat, not only for the person who needs the extra profiles.
Add-ons are priced on a call
Sprout lists Premium Analytics, Listening, Employee Advocacy and Professional Services as add-ons for Standard and above, and its pricing page prints no price for any of them. It points to a demo or consultation instead. If you need those, you will not know the real monthly cost until you talk to sales.
Approvals and the Gulf calendar
The pricing content we read did not mention approval workflows, a UAE or KSA holiday calendar or Arabic support, and none of the other competitor pages we read did either. That does not mean the products cannot do it, only that the pages do not say, so ask in a demo. Check how each tool treats the UAE weekend of Saturday and Sunday and Saudi Arabia's Friday and Saturday, and test an Arabic caption yourself.
When Sprout Social is still the right call
If your team works in the inbox all day and also needs review management, competitor and paid insights, listening and employee advocacy in one suite, Sprout is built for that. Its Standard plan lists a consolidated inbox and review management, Professional adds competitor, tag and paid insights, and the trial is 30 days with no card. The footer of its site lists Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest and TikTok. If you use those tools every day and the price is acceptable, staying put is a sound decision, because switching costs retraining and lost history.
Seven alternatives, checked 26 October 2026
Hootsuite
Suits: teams that want the closest match to Sprout and are comfortable with per-seat pricing. The page's FAQ gives Standard from $99, Professional from $199 and Advanced up to $399 per user per month, with prices based on annual billing and excluding taxes (checked 26 October 2026). Standard manages 10 social accounts and Professional and above manage unlimited accounts. Standard lists an inbox, competitor monitoring and social listening, Professional adds inbox automation, 90-day trend forecasting and custom reports, and Advanced adds content approval workflows, message assignment and team productivity tracking. The trial is 14 days with no card. Limits: approvals sit on the top public plan, the plans page prints no full network list, and cost still grows with every seat. Eight users on Professional come to $1,592 a month, or AED 5,846.62.
Agorapulse
Suits: teams built around the inbox. Standard is $79, Professional $119 and Advanced $149 per user per month on annual billing, or $99, $149 and $199 billed monthly, and each of those plans includes 10 social profiles. Extra profiles are listed at $10 to $15 a month each, though the page text is unclear on the exact figure. Custom is tailored, with unlimited profiles (checked 26 October 2026). Every plan has an all-in-one inbox with comment moderation. Professional adds assignments, internal comments and simple approval workflows, Advanced adds saved replies, bulk scheduling and shared calendars, and multi-step approvals are on Custom only. The trial is 30 days with no card. Limits: pricing is per user, and Listening and Competitive Benchmarking are add-ons priced on request. Eight users on Advanced come to $1,192 a month, or AED 4,377.62, for 10 profiles.
Sendible
Suits: agencies and teams with many brands. Its page says unlimited users are included on every plan, and plans are sized by workspace: Core has 1 workspace and 6 social profiles, Plus 3 and 18, Premium 7 and 42, Elite 15 and 90, and Enterprise 50 and 300. Core starts from $35 a month, Elite from $349 and Enterprise from $800 (checked 26 October 2026), and the page text prints no price for Plus or Premium. Assignment and approvals are listed from Plus. There is a 14-day free trial with no card and a 15% saving on yearly billing. Limits: white label is a paid add-on on Elite and Enterprise, and you need the pricing page for the middle tiers.
Planable
Suits: teams where review is the main job. Pricing is per workspace, which means one brand, client or location with its own calendar, team and approval flow. Basic is $33 per workspace per month with 4 social pages and 60 posts, Pro is $49 with 10 social pages and 150 posts, both with unlimited users, and Enterprise is custom (checked 26 October 2026). Required approvals are on Pro and multi-level approvals on Enterprise. There is no permanent free plan, and the trial is 50 posts with no card. Limits: post caps per workspace, and the inbox, analytics and listening are paid add-ons whose prices differ in places on the page, so confirm the figure before you buy.
Loomly
Suits: brand teams that want a calendar and approvals without a heavy suite. Starter is $49 a month billed yearly, or $65 billed monthly, for 12 social accounts and 3 users. Beyond is $249 billed yearly, or $332 monthly, for 60 social accounts and unlimited users, and Enterprise is custom from 61 accounts (checked 26 October 2026). The comparison table lists approval workflows as included on both Starter and Beyond. The page offers a free trial with no card but does not state its length, and it says sales tax may apply. Limits: the Starter user cap of 3 is small for a mid-size team, and we did not see listening or an inbox described on the pricing page, so ask about both.
Buffer
Suits: teams that mostly schedule posts and want a low entry price. There is a free plan with up to 3 channels and 1 user. Essentials is $5 per channel per month and Team is $10 per channel per month, with unlimited users on Team, and the page says yearly billing gives a 20% discount (checked 26 October 2026). Approval workflows and custom permissions are on Team only, and the trial is 14 days. Channels above 10 cost less per channel. At the list rate, 20 channels on Team come to $200 a month, or AED 734.50, before that discount. Limits: Buffer is publishing-first, so if you want Sprout-style listening and review management, compare the larger suites first.
Wisp
Suits: Gulf brands and agencies that want a flat workspace price, named approvals and a UAE and KSA calendar. Creator is $29 a month, Pro $79, Growth $249 and Agency $499, and annual billing is 12% lower (checked 26 October 2026). Wisp prices a workspace rather than a seat. Pro covers 3 seats and 12 connected profiles for one brand workspace, Growth covers 10 seats, 30 profiles and 3 brand workspaces, and Agency covers 25 seats, 120 profiles and 10 brand workspaces. Creator and Pro open with a 7-day trial that needs a card, with the first charge on day 8. A free 14-day preview needs no card and lets you draft posts, create 3 images, connect one account and schedule one post.
How Wisp handles approvals and planning
Each post goes to a named approver, roles are set per brand (view, create, approve, publish, connections, Brand Kit and calendar), and an audit trail records who approved what. Approval does not publish: nothing goes out on its own, and every post is bound to the exact account you chose. Pro includes one-step approvals, and multi-stage approvals start on Growth. The planning calendar carries UAE and KSA public moments next to your own brand events, schedules in Asia/Dubai time, and can run Sunday to Thursday or Monday to Friday. An Instagram inbox keeps comments and DMs in one place.
Where Wisp falls short
It is a younger product with fewer channels than Sprout or Hootsuite. Today it publishes to Instagram, Facebook Pages and TikTok, where new accounts post privately until TikTok finishes reviewing the app. LinkedIn works for personal profiles, and Company Pages open as LinkedIn extends access. Snapchat is coming soon and X is coming as a paid add-on. There is no YouTube, Pinterest, Threads or Bluesky yet. Wisp's pages do not list social listening, competitor benchmarking or review management, so if those are central to your plan, stay with Sprout or choose Hootsuite or Agorapulse.
What eight seats cost
Take a team of eight people running three brands on about 20 profiles, at list prices on annual billing where the page allows.
| Plan | How it is priced | Monthly cost | In AED |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sprout Professional | 8 x $299 per seat | $2,392 | AED 8,784.62 |
| Hootsuite Professional | 8 x $199 per user | $1,592 | AED 5,846.62 |
| Agorapulse Advanced | 8 x $149 per user, 10 profiles | $1,192 | AED 4,377.62 |
| Wisp Growth | One workspace price | $249 | AED 914.45 |
These are not like for like, because the larger suites include inbox and reporting depth that Wisp does not list. Use the figures to see the shape of each bill, not to pick a winner.
Decision guide
- Cost per seat: look at tools that charge by workspace or channel, such as Planable, Sendible, Buffer and Wisp, and price each one for your real accounts, because those bills rise with brands and channels instead of people.
- Approvals: Hootsuite lists them on Advanced, Agorapulse offers simple approvals from Professional, Planable has required approvals on Pro, Loomly lists them on Starter, Buffer on Team and Wisp from Pro.
- The inbox: Agorapulse and Hootsuite are the closest to Sprout.
- The Gulf calendar: ask every vendor about UAE and KSA holidays during the trial; Wisp has them built in.
- YouTube, Pinterest, Threads or Bluesky today: Buffer and Agorapulse list all four on their pages, Sendible lists YouTube, Threads and Bluesky, and Wisp does not yet.
A two week test
- Pick two alternatives and keep Sprout running.
- Move one brand or one market across.
- Schedule the same real posts in both tools, including an Arabic post and a mixed-language post.
- Send one post through approval and ask support one question.
- Compare how long each step took and what each plan would cost for your real team, then decide.
Export your saved replies, hashtags and reports first, because not everything moves between tools.
Common questions
What is the best Sprout Social alternative for a mid-size team?
There is no single best: Hootsuite is the closest match, Agorapulse suits inbox-led teams, Planable and Loomly suit approval-led teams, Sendible suits agencies, Buffer suits tight budgets and Wisp suits Gulf brands that want a flat workspace price.
Is Sprout Social worth it for a mid-size team?
It can be, if the team uses the inbox, reporting and listening every day. The cost is per seat, so it is hardest to justify when only a few people need the full suite and the rest only draft or approve.
Which alternative is cheapest for eight people?
Buffer, Planable and Wisp price by channel or workspace, so each can land well below a per-seat total, but only if your accounts and brands fit their limits. Price your real setup on each pricing page before you decide.
Do any of these tools have a UAE and KSA calendar?
Wisp lists UAE and KSA public moments in its calendar. None of the other pricing pages we read mentioned one, so ask each vendor during a trial.
